Walking on Water
During a Sunday morning run in early January, Beth noticed something she hadn't seen before. A group of people seemed to be skating on the pond behind our home. She had heard of frozen ponds being used for local ice skating, but having grown up in Texas (where ponds are always *wet* rather than *hard*), the sight itself was really quite strange. So she ran home and told Steve, "We've got to go walk on the pond!"
We also took some time to enjoy the winter scenery. The last photo shows one of the fascinating sights: some of the many birds who seem to be weathering the winter here in cold, snowy Munich. Maybe the weather is worse in the areas from which they came -- I don't know. All I can think about is how cold their feet must be. I can't imagine standing on the ice with no shoes... and then there are the ones who are still swimming! I'll call them polar bear birds.
So here it is. A game of hockey on the pond, ... and Beth pretending to be a famous ice skater. : )
