Moving to West Africa

In three weeks we will be moving to West Africa! As we prepare for the move, one of the tasks is to go through the boxes that have been in storage in the attic. We need to decide what to take with us, what to get rid of, and what to keep storing. Who would have thought it would take so much time?

At least we got our immunizations and visa applications out of the way!

Guatemala

Steve traveled to Guatemala to pick up the rest of his belongings, sell his car, and say good-bye to friends. It was great seeing high-school classmates for the first time in several years.

Our motel in New Mexico

On our drive back to Texas from Colorado we planned to camp. There were flash flood warnings and motels were quite expensive, so we decided to sleep in Pearl, our car. She was happy to serve as our motel for the night. (I'm glad it's not all the time!) It was a very desolate stretch of road somewhere in New Mexico, but offered a nice view of the vast expanse.

Michigan (again)

We were invited for a second round of interviews in Grand Rapids, MI. This time we flew from Colorado instead of driving. Between testing and interviews we were able to escape to Saugatuck Dunes State Park.
